  • What is the difference between a Bloomer and a Friend of Garforth in Bloom?

    A  Bloomer is  someone who plays an active part in the running and maintenance of  the organisation, whether it be  general physical gardening duties or help with  administration.

    A Friend of Garforth in Bloom is someone who donates on   a yearly basis to  our funds.  This can be as little as £5  or as much as you feel able to donate

  • What's Incredible Edibles?

    This is a community project involving growing vegetables and making them available free to members  of the public 

  • What is the Coal Tub Display?

    This display,originally at the Gaping Goose  and now at the Academy, was established as a connection with Garforth's mining  Heritage.

    There is  a  board  providing information on some mining historyput together by Carol Woodhead.

    It was made of wood by John Cranswick a former Bloomer For more details goto display beds tab


  • Where do the plants come from?

     A variety  of sources  - Leeds City Council at the Arium, Woodend Nurseries -Great Preston, Garforth Growers. On occaision we have paid for a Dutch based company to plant bulbs,  namely opposite the Gaping Goose. 9,000 in 20 minutes!

  • How is Garforth in Bloom financed?

    Funds come from sponorship of the displays by  local companies, organisations and  private individuals.

    Through Friends of GIB yearly donations, and funding raising at Summer , Christmas Fairs , Lions  Gala  and Brass Band Concert

  • Are you developing any new displays?

    We are not taking on any new developments.. With over 100 displays  our members have more than they can cope with. 

    If you  would like to develope a new plot yourself  then we may be ale to  help with advice

  • Will you do my garden for me?

    Sorry no  We only get involved with  community displays
